JIHYE CHUNG

Pianist Jihye CHUNG has played on stages throughout Germany and South Korea. She is an artist who pursues to establish herself both as a soloist and chamber music pianist.

Most recently, she has performed on various stages of both solo and chamber concerts in South Korea. She has been appointed a member of the jury of the piano competitions in South Korea. In addition to them, she shows her versatile musical talents through various activities.
Jihye’s upcoming highlights in 2024 are full of exciting events expanding her appearance across the world, including her debut concert at the Carnegie Hall in the United States and a duo concert at the Seoul Art Center in South Korea.
Jihye Chung, who was born in Seoul, Korea, showed a big talent for instrumental music. She began with a classic piano education in early childhood, and started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. To continue the study of piano, she enrolled at the Busan Middle School of Arts, and at the Kaywon High School of Arts. Before completing the secondary education in South Korea, she decided to study in Germany to be exposed to more environments of classical music and the opportunity to gain experience from the virtuoso on the piano. In 2007, At the age of 18, she entered the University of Music and Theatre Munich (German: Hochschule für Musik und Theater München) where she met Franz Massinger, Prof. Yuka Imamine, and Prof. Gitti Pirner. At the university, she received her Diplom (German degree), Master, and Weiterbildendes Zertifikatsstudium Meisterklasse (equivalent to the Postdoctoral degree) degrees in Piano. After finishing her study in Munich, she entered the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music in Dresden (German: Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden) to expand her music skills, especially for the instrumental coaching and accompaniment (German: instrumental korrepetition). She was taught by Jewgenij Feldmann (Yevgeny Feldmann) and received a Master of Music degree in Instrumentalkorrepetition. While studying in Germany for about 13 years, she did not only focus on academic achievement but was also involved in various performances in the public. She has participated in the music festivals and was invited to the concerts.
